The White House announced the US will host the Ninth Summit of the Americas this June in Los Angeles. As the only hemispheric meeting of leaders from the countries of the Americas, the Summit serves as the most important forum to address our region’s shared challenges and opportunities. The Ninth Summit marks the first time the US has hosted the event since the inaugural meeting in Miami in 1994. This opportunity will allow LA to leverage its position as a leader on the world stage as home to the largest Hispanic/Latino community in the US. It will also bring extensive economic activity to the region, especially in the hospitality industry. Read Mayor Garcetti's press release here, the LA Times story here, and the AP story here.
